Get your messy spreadsheet in — without a data-cleaning project

Almost every business has "the customer list" as a spreadsheet with inconsistent phone formats and half the numbers missing a country code. Whoever owns the customer list — which is usually an Excel file with three different phone formats in it, and no country codes. Which is almost everyone.

How an import works

  1. Start from the sample

    Download the sample file if you want a head start, or just bring the spreadsheet you already have.

  2. Map your columns

    Point each of your headings at the matching field. Nothing has to be renamed in the source file.

  3. Answer the country-code question

    Say whether the numbers already carry a country code and, if not, pick the default country to apply.

  4. Preview, then commit

    See valid, invalid and auto-fixed counts and a preview of what will be created. Only then does anything import — and you get a success-rate summary afterwards.

Three ways contacts arrive

Type them in one at a time, import a spreadsheet, or let them sync across from the WhatsApp account you connected. Because numbers are stored in a normalised form, a file with mixed formats still de-duplicates against contacts you already have.

Fields that make templates personal

Each contact carries seven custom fields alongside the usual name, email and phone. Those fields bind directly to template variables, which is what turns one approved template into a personalised message for every person on the list. Each contact can also carry a preferred language, and shows whether it can currently receive messages or has unsubscribed.

  • Requires the Wiz Campaign or Wiz Pro plan.
  • We set no contact-count limit of our own. Meta's messaging limits still govern how many of those contacts you can actually reach in a day.
  • Import is from Excel or CSV. There is no direct CRM connector here — programmatic import goes through the API instead.
  • An unsubscribed contact is marked as unsubscribed, not silently deleted, so you keep the record of the request.
  • Numbers are stored normalised. That is what makes de-duplication work, but it also means a badly malformed number is rejected rather than guessed at.

My spreadsheet has different column names. Do I have to rename them?

No. You map your columns to our fields during the import, with sample data from your own file shown as you go.

My numbers don't have country codes. Will the import fail?

No. You tell the importer that the numbers have no country code and pick the default country to apply, and it normalises them for you. The auto-fixed count is shown before anything is committed.

What happens to rows that are wrong?

They are reported per row as invalid, and the rest of the file still imports. One bad row does not fail the whole upload.

How many contacts can I store?

We do not impose a limit. What limits you in practice is Meta's messaging tier for your number, which governs how many people you can message in a day.

Can I import contacts from my CRM?

Not through a direct connector in this feature. You can export from your CRM to Excel or CSV and import that, or push contacts in programmatically through the API.

What are the custom fields for?

Seven fields per contact that bind to template variables. Put an order number, a renewal date or a membership tier in one, and an approved template can address every contact with their own value.
